Marriage - the Ulimate Collaring

Weddings today are more than a celebration of love. They are major events, sometimes with exotic or non-traditional destinations and are often talked about long after the bouquet is thrown. Couples use this event to send the world a message about who they are and how they see themselves. If you're a celebrity, people expect a bizarre wedding and are even disappointed if it approaches societies idea of "traditional".

With so many couples literally tie knots celebrating their love of bondage, is it no wonder that one such couple will celebrate their wedding with a BDSM theme? Tomorrow, Sunday August 16, at the Tampa Fetish Con will be the setting for one special couple as they tie the proverbial knot - talk about the ultimate collaring!

Max Mosley - Did He Really Win?

The much publicized privacy court case involving Max Mosley has concluded. While the court decided in favor of Mosley and awarded him 60,000 pounds in damages, one has to wonder if he really won anything. Okay, so the case decided he had a right to expect privacy but once the video hit YouTube and his sexual interests became the stuff newspapers love to use as headlines, privacy can't be made retro-active. How once can really repay someone for the damage done to their reputation, their marriage and standing in the community? Those things can't be bought back from the public.

Feminist Porn: Sex, Consent, and Getting Off

I've finally found a position on Feminism and Sexuality that I can relate to! In a constant search for interesting items for you, I found an excellent article on Feministe . I recommend you read the full article, but for those of my readers with short attention spans here is a section from the blog to wet your whistle:
The reality of what women, even feminists, find pleasurable is not always politically correct. Sexuality is not neat and clean. I have talked to many feminist women who struggle to balance what really happens behind closed doors and what they feel the bedroom politics of a “good feminist” should be. Enjoying BDSM, strap-on sex and sex toys, genderplay, rape and incest taboo, mainstream pornography, and other “deviant” sexual taboos with a consensual partner does not make a person a “bad feminist” or a hypocrite. To the contrary, feminism is what gave me permission to love sex, with myself and with others, to embrace my sexual orientation, and find out what turns me on.
All I can say is 'you go girl'!

Spanking is in the News Again

Max Mosley, Formula 1 big shot recently caught on tape doing a Nazi themed scene with 5 "working girls", has brought "what we do" front and center on the world stage. Whether or not the uniformed scenes are your cup of tea, Mosley claims it's all about the spanking. Spanking, as an activity between adults, is thoughtfully discussed in a recent article titled "The Pleasure Principle" that appeared in The Scotsman.

Finally Good News On Spanking

These days "news" is more about sensationalism and less about the responsible reporting of facts. Bottom line - headlines sell. Case in point - new studies are published everyday and most will never be read, let alone be "ink worthy". But when Professor Murray Strauss published his latest study it made headlines around the world. Why?

The study concluded "children who are spanked are more likely as adults to coerce partners to have sex, to have unprotected sex and to have masochistic sex". US News and World Report's account of this story ran with the headline "Spanking Raises Chances of Risky, Deviant Sexual Behavior" Hum, Deviant Sexual Behavior bet that boosted readership.

The good news - many articles are being published that refute or at least question the studies finding. The most credible source to issue comments on the study is the
American College of Pediatricians. The Concord Monitor also published a good opinion letter on the subject and AgoraVox, a European on-line publication, posted this succinct commentary .

I encourage you to follow the links I've provided and to send Me your comments on this subject. You know how I enjoy views on spanking!!

Casting Stones

This will be an interesting week in the news - New York's Governor is in hot water. So far, there are a lot of sound bites with very few details, but the bigger the man the more people will flock to see him fall.

I think that all men are human and thus not perfect. What a shame that all the good he's done will be forgotten and he'll be remembered for being a man. What bothers me is that this follows a tsunami of inquires from the National Enquirer about the NY BDSM scene and the March 6 issue of Time Out New York's "Secret Lives of New Yorkers: A go-go dancing lawyer, an orgy-loving dad and a pot smoking doctor. What's wrong with you people?" When did Time Out become so judgmental?

Which brings to mind John 8:7: "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

Not Getting Your Fair Share?

If you're an American, and the subject is sex, then you probably aren't getting much at all. According to a recently survey, American's are the 2nd most undersexed country in the world (be thankful you don't live in Japan!). But no matter where you live and how much you get, 56% are unsatisfied with the quality of what they do get. Hopefully you are one of 44% that are "fully satisfied with their sex lives." Even worse, only 60% said sex was important. Sounds like sour grapes to Me!

P.S. - I never get included in these surveys - they don't want to skew the data!

BDSM Debate: Tax Dollars Hard at Work in Massachusetts

If you thought Politics only deals with boring bills, then you haven't been keeping up with Massachusetts House Bill 1722, the Transgender Rights Bill. While the bill itself may not make good reading, the debate it has sparked spans the gamut of emotions- from conservative thoughtfulness, to the wildly absurd.

I am in no way voicing My opinion on this bill and the very real issues it's attempting to address. I am concerned about what it might mean with respect to standards of public behavior. My personal standard of behavior has always been in keeping with the mantra: Safe, Sane and Consensual. In My professional life I am often asked about public outings with clients. I don't feel anyone has the right to force their fetish on the general public.

So while some Dommes may spank a sub in public, or allow foot worship in a public park, I won't risk having a child or other adult view these scenes - they obviously didn't consent to such a show. I, of course, don't mind pushing the envelope under the right circumstances and find that public teasing can often be quite erotic, but I pick My spots very carefully. Teasing behaviors are best left to very discrete actions in public which only make private encounters more enjoyable.

Student Pulication Looks at Fetishes

Student publications must be getting more liberal - My college publication wasn't in color, and didn't have a "Sex Edition". The University of Western Ontario's student newspaper's (The Gazette) February 15th edition was dedicated entirely to sex. Not only is the cover photo more provocative than any published at My alma mater, but the article about sexual fetishes, spans a topic that might only be mentioned in a advanced psychology course.

Bondage Accident - Deeply Disturbing

If you have read anything I have written, you know that I am very particular about which clients I will see and what kinds of sessions I will do. The decision is squarely mine and not open to discussion.

My RULE NUMBER ONE is that play must be Safe, Sane and Consensual. I have turned down many clients who I feel take unacceptable risks, or that simply don't/won't fully exercise their share of the responsibility to ensure compliance to that rule.

However, like any rule that is simply stated, individuals are left to apply their own personal judgment as to the meaning of "safe, sane and consensual" and therefor apply their own level of "acceptable risk".

I hate to see headlines like this in My local paper, especially when it involves supposed "professionals". But even more, I'd hate to see this incident become the weapon that some lawmaker wields to make domination (currently a legal activity) an illegal form of entertainment - using public safety as a cover-up for morality.

So play, but play safe, and above all, no matter who you play with, ask questions that will not only result in a satisfying play session, but a safe one, so you will live to play another day.

Thankfully, no one died in this incident, but that was only pure luck in timing.

Instant Gratification

We live in a society where everyone wants instant gratification. Perhaps you use instant oatmeal, instant coffee, instant mashed potatoes, minute rice -- you get the idea. Some of these are close enough to real deal that you feel you're missing a thing, and the convenience is well worth what you give up. But there are some things in life where nothing but the real thing will do - even if it's more work! Read this article and see what one Iowa man feels is worth the convenience.

Spanking Goes Prime Time

I'm not into reality shows, but I wish I'd seen the one episode mentioned in this article on London's The Sun website. Apparently, on the show Housemates, one of the participants told another member of show he enjoys being spanked. Based on the picture, I'm assuming he was spanked for all to see! Now it seems Jonty's career is on the upswing - a porn company would like him to star in a spanking film.

Eating Your Way to an Orgasm?

A diet that will help woman finally achieve that all elusive orgasm, or for those of us that don't seem to have that issue, the diet will provide us with even bigger/better ones - at least that is what the Orgasmic Diet book claims.

I've never given much thought about what life would be like if sex didn't result in an orgasm, so I was shocked by one of bullets at the end of the article.
  • Only about 30% of sexually active women orgasm during intercourse, according to the Betty Byrne Henderson Women's Health Research Center in Australia
I can't imagine having the "Big O" only once during any given sexual encounter but apparently 70% women aren't having them at all! I not only expect multiple orgasms, when things really click, I expect My partner to be drowning in wetness!

The Corporate Dominatrix

The Daily News had an interesting article in it's lifestyle section. It's worth the read, even if part of their premise is a bit off. I agree with the aurthor in that the skills that made me successful in the corporate world are the same skills that make me a good Domme, or perhaps vice versa. However, I take exception with an assumption made early on in the article. I don't "switch" to being "submissive", I just know which battles are worth fighting!

Take the test. I did and no surprise, my score fell in the Highly Dominant area (If you got a score of 25 or more, you're a highly dominant - an Amazon or a Queen) but was not so high that I qualify as "Queen Bitch".
