Sexy the New Scary?

Just when did adults hijack Halloween? Halloween used to mean Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin special and lots of candy for the "little kids".

More than one newspaper has run stories about the growing Halloween market. Estimates are that this year nearly 5 million dollars will be spent on candy, decorations and costumes. The number of parties held rivals the numbers for New Years Eve and the Super Bowl. But when did Halloween become super sexed?

From the link above:

Of course, risqué outfits have always been a part of the holiday for some women. But there are two differences now. The tart look has gone mainstream -- and the girls who are wearing it are much younger.

"We're seeing 12-year-olds buying them," says Sumanasa Jyoti, who manages a Halloween Headquarters store in Santa Cruz that is open year-round. "I'm amazed that they buy them, but they do. A lady came in the other day and bought a sexy ladybug costume for her 7- and 8-year-olds."

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE sexy clothes and think it's great that fetish clothes are more and more main stream, BUT when costume companies are making French Maid costumes for toddlers, even I start to think sexy is being pushed out to the public a little too hard.

Call me a prude if you like but I prefer my sex and sexy activities to be between consenting adults.

Does Size Matter?

"Does size matter?" That's sounds like a question tossed about by the women on Sex in the City or Desperate Housewives, but it's apparently an international question. Perhaps I should clarify a bit; we’re talking about women here and NOT men and their size issues!

An article posted just a few hours ago in the Kuwait Times reveals that women there are concerned about size -- the size of their feet! It seems that in the Middle East, even with all that region is going through, women care about shoes, feet and esthetics. Go figure. For those of you not familiar with the Euro shoe sizing mentioned in the article - a size 35 equates to American size 5, Euro 38 to American 7 1/2 and a 40 to a size 9. In the article a size 38 was considered to be too large. Women here complain that having a size 5 or smaller foot means less options in shoes while women there think that size is more ideal.

Me, I love my size 7 feet. They suit me perfectly and I never have complaints that they aren't feminine!

So Begins the Debate

Where do some people keep their brains?

USA Today's article on spanking has sparked a heated debate. And true to form, there is always someone who says something stupid!

And the stupid quote award goes to ....... Robert Fathman He is quoted as saying, "If you bring a child up and you're spanking them, they're more likely to hit an animal, a pet......"

Does the ASPCA know about this?

Spankings - Do They Lead to Success

Much to my delight, spanking is in the news again! It seems that if you spare the rod, you may really spoil the child - spoil their shot at corporate success, that is.

USA Today asked top CEOs about being spanked as children. It turns out that many top CEOs believe spankings taught them the discipline they needed to achieve success.

Some people feel this sends parents the wrong message--NOT. Most of today's CEOs grew up during a time in the US when spakings were given freely and often to correct behavior and serve as a deterant for future lapses in judgement. The phrase "wait till your Father/Mother gets home" was terrifying to many kids. It wasn't a threat but a promise. Today's parents often threaten punishment that is never delivered. When punishment is levied, most favor withholding privlidges or taking away items like game systems. Not nearly the same thing in my book!

The unruly behavior we are forced to endure daily on the subway, on buses or in resturants would not have been tolerated by My parent's generation. I certainly didn't tolerate it from My children. Is this behavior simply a product of changing times or due to a change in discipline habits?

Why No Recent Posts

your Mistress has been working hard on Her latest project - a new website. Content takes time to write and format, so My energy outside of sessions has been spent writing HTML and of course, in pursuit of "personal pleasures"(you didn't expect Me to give that up!!).

Check out the Session Interests page to get an idea of My interests outside of spanking.

Look for new content to be posted soon on chastity and key holding which fit in nicely with My fondness for domestic discipline.
